To sign up for an AWS account
  1. Open https://portal.aws.amazon.com/billing/signup.
  2. Follow the online instructions.
During the sign-up process, you’ll receive a phone call and need to enter a verification code via the phone’s keypad.
  3. Upon signing up for an AWS account, an AWS account root user is created. This root user has access to all services and resources within the account. For security reasons, it’s recommended to grant administrative access to an admin user and only use the root user for tasks that specifically require root user access.
