Cognos

Cognos is  IBM’s business intelligence tool (BI) and performance management software. It is a web based reporting and analytic tool, which is designed to enable business users without technical knowledge to extract corporate data, analyze it and assemble reports.

Cognos is composed of nearly 36 software products. As it is built on open standards, the software products can be used with relational and multidimensional data sources from multiple vendors, including Microsoft, NCR Teradata, SAP and Oracle.

Cognos has been introduced in various versions i.e. Cognos 8 BI ,which was first introduced in 2005, is IBM’s leading performance management software.

In 2010 Cognos 10 comes with mobile capability, allowing users to access a complete version of Cognos from mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones.

Cognos provides a wide range of features and can be considered as an enterprise software to provide flexible reporting environment and can be used for large and medium enterprise. It also provides user, an option to export the report in XML or PDF format or you can view the reports in XML format.
