Projectile motion and uniform circular motion
Body thrown horizontally from a height (horizontal projection):
1. The path of a body projected horizontally from the top of a tower of height ‘h’ is parabola
2. If a body projected horizontally with an initial velocity ‘u’ from the top of a tower of height ‘h’,
If a bomb is dropped from a plane moving horizontally with uniform velocity ‘u’, then the path of bomb as observed by a man stationary on ground is parabola.
If a bomb is dropped from a plane moving horizontally with uniform velocity ‘u’, then the path of bomb as observed by the pilot of the plane is vertical straight line.
Uniform circular motion:
When an object follows a circular path at constant speed, the motion of the object is called uniform circular motion. The word ‘uniform’ refers to the speed, which is uniform (constant) through out the motion.
