The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) has announced the appointment of Rajesh Nambiar as its new President-Designate. Nambiar, who recently stepped down as Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant India, will succeed Debjani Ghosh as she completes her tenure in November 2024.
A Vision for the Future
Rajesh Nambiar, an industry veteran with extensive experience at TCS, IBM, Ciena, and Cognizant, expressed his enthusiasm about the new role, stating, “This is a pivotal moment for the industry as we focus on transitioning to AI-first companies. Talent will be our strongest asset, driving growth and fueling innovation in IP creation and R&D. I am honored to take on this responsibility and collaborate with all stakeholders to further enhance India’s tech capabilities.”
Nambiar has previously served on NASSCOM’s Executive Council and was elected as Chairperson in 2023. His strategic initiatives have played a significant role in establishing India’s tech sector as a global powerhouse.

Facing Industry Challenges
Nambiar’s appointment comes at a time when the IT services industry is navigating through complex challenges, including rapid technological changes and a global slowdown in tech spending. In response, NASSCOM formed a search committee, led by Keshav R. Murugesh, Group CEO of WNS, to find a leader who could guide the industry through these turbulent times.
