Why Developers and Hackers Prefer Linux Over Other OS

Why Developers and Hackers Choose Linux Over Other OS For developers and hackers across the globe, Linux is the designated operating system. The open-source project has its advantages: it provides the user with transparency in the operating system, the flexibility to modify it to suit particular needs, security, and features its powerful command-line tools. This prompts the question, why is Linux preferred over other operating systems like Windows or macOS? Let’s dive into the reasons.
1. Open-Source and Customization One of the big advantages of Linux is being open-source. With Windows and macOS, code is a proprietary product, but Linux allows the user to browse through and modify freely. The transparency that Linux grants allows the programmer to modify an operating system to fit their needs to increase usability, performance, and security.
2. Better Security Security is a big part of being a programmer and hacker. Annoyingly enough, some of the best operating systems out there were designed with security features often built in. So using Linux, which is a more secure operating system than Windows or Mac, in part is due to permission policies trying to keep the careless programmer to disable or allow permissions to call functions to the operating system.
3. Powerful Command-Line Interface (CLI)Overall, Linux command-line interface (CLI) is much more powerful than that of the Windows CLI. The developers and ethical hackers use software packages that share a consistent platform and practices. This means that across all types of distributions or versions of Linux they can do a huge array of tasks out of the command line.
